Last summer, so many members helped make this vision a reality, giving many hours to complete this tribute to our former members. Thank you to all who contributed your time and labor to this project.
The Clinton Lions Club is the second largest Lions Club in District 41, which includes the entire State of Maine. Our club is 71 Lions strong, including professional, business, corporate, government and retired people. Our club was chartered in 1953 under the leadership of Charter President George McKenney. For 58 years we have followed this mandate through the creation and support of a wide variety of facilities and projects.Jon Whitten just received an award for being a club member for 50 years!!!!
While sight is the major institutional goal of Lionism, our bylaws also direct us to take an active role in the civic, social and moral welfare of the community. We contribute to many causes during the course of a year including giving High School Scholarships, donating eveglasses and vision screening, helping the elderly, the poor and those in need in our local community.
We welcome membership interest from any man or woman of legal majority, good moral character and community reputation who recognizes Lionism as a vehicle through which they can make a contribution to ourcommunity and the surrounding communities. Membership is by invitation only and is subject to approval by the Board of Directors. If you know a Lion and are willing to give some time for community service, inquire about becoming a member. It's a big commitment but is very rewarding in many ways. Please speak with a Lion you may know, ask how you may help.
The Clinton Lions Club has evolved over the years adding many different fund raising functions. We have one of the finest Agricultural Fairs in the state and is truly a country fair. We have many other functions at the fairgrounds during the year. If you'd like to schedule an event at the fairgrounds, contact us.
